Utilities Plant Operator-Journey
Job Duties: Boiler operators are assigned eight hour shifts at the Steam Plant. Technician operates (100 PSI) steam boilers, one 500 HP and one 1000 HP. Technician maintains constant pressure and flow of steam by adjusting valves, feed and circulating pumps, and controls. He maintains proper air/fuel ration by regulating fans and damper openings. He helps maintains proper feed water chemistry by adjusting chemical feed controls on multiple chemical feed station pumps to keep all water within required chemical ranges. He performs testing of boiler feed water and condensate to confirm they are within required ranges. All tests are then recorded in log books. Position maintains the plant log by recording specified temperatures and pressures,
