The edPIRATE Teacher Residency Project Coordinator/Associate Director will serve as a core member of the grant leadership team. The Project Coordinator/Associate Director will work directly with K-8 school teachers, teacher candidates, and grant partners (at ECU and external) to support Project edPIRATE teacher residency planning, implementation, and evaluation. Duties include but are not limited to: development of teacher residency and implementation; recruitment of teacher candidates; development and implementation of residency support plan for cohort 1; assisting with day-to-day management, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of work plans; coordination of teacher residency project Year 1 timelines, meetings, budgets, and goals; coordination of briefs, policy reports, summaries, blogs and other content for e-newsletters and web sites; facilitation of annual reporting of teacher residency activities; liaison for residency contract partners, and other duties as assigned.

Description of Job Responsibilities:

30% Leadership: Responsible for a) liaison to K-8 school districts and providing effective communications with school and community partners to ensure strong partnerships, b) collaborating with MAT teaching faculty, c) liaison for teacher residency contractors.

30% Development: Responsible for a) collaborating with Project edPIRATE team to develop the Year 1 scope, sequence, and curriculum supports for the teacher residency, b) development and maintenance of residency summer learning exchanges, c) coordinating enrollment for teacher residents, d) development and implementation of teacher residency recruitment and retention program to support edPIRATE teachers.

5% Marketing: Responsible for coordinating and preparing various products for publication including briefs, policy reports, summaries, blogs and other content for e-newsletters, social media and web sites.

5% Partnership: Responsible for a) serving as liaison to National Center for Teacher Residencies, b) facilitating Residency Design Academy.

15% Team Supervision: Responsible for recruitment, hiring process, orientation, placement, evaluation of teacher residents.

15% Evaluation and Grant Management: Responsible for a) assisting with day-to-day management, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of residency work plans, b) coordinating and tracking project timelines, meetings, budgets, and goals, c) collaborating with project staff to develop curriculum and products specified in grant deliverables, d) facilitating the coordination of the teacher residency portion of the project Year 1 annual report.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

This position requires knowledge of K-12 curriculum, instruction, pedagogy, and leadership. A highly qualified candidate will also have knowledge, skills, and experience developing curriculum using advanced technology and mentoring novice teachers. Strong interpersonal skills are necessary including networking with K-12 setting (students, parents, and administrators), community members, collaborating with university grant partners, and university grant team members. The candidate will maintain an office on the ECU campus and travel is expected.

The Rural Education Institute (REI) will partner with ECU's Thomas Harriot College of Arts & Sciences, four rural school districts: Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Public Schools, Greene County Schools, Lenoir County Public Schools, and Washington County Schools to develop effective K-8 teachers and school leaders, improve student achievement, and increase the recruitment and retention of diverse educators in our high need rural communities. Project edPIRATE (Educator Pipeline In Rural Action for Teaching Equity) will reform ECU's MAT program at the K-8 level by adding a residency component focused on rural educational justice. Complementing this teacher residency program, a set of microcredentials (MC) focused on equitable student engagement, race and rurality, community engagement, and differentiated instruction will be created and implemented in the ECU leadership preparation program (MSA). edPIRATE also adds a mentoring component for new school leaders graduating from the MSA program and continued professional development for principals.
