The UNC Food Allergy Initiative and the Division of Pediatric Allergy and Immunology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking an individual for a full-time research faculty position at the assistant professor level. This position will serve as an independent investigator and collaborator to the UNCFAI senior scientist in the oversight and conduct of basic science research performed within the UNCFAI. The successful candidate will have experience with basic immunology research in food allergic diseases in both human and animal models. Together with the senior scientist, the individual will set the strategy and direction of the UNCFAI research efforts and will be responsible for the overall quality of the science performed by the research project team members. The individual will foster the professional development of the project team members and provide guidance to them. Responsibilities also include the preparation of written documentation for publication, presentation, and funding applications that describe in detail the objectives, rationale and methodology of such research, communicating its results and significance.
Education and Experience:
Applicants must have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills as well as proven ability to analyze and integrate information from diverse disciplines, and a demonstrated ability to develop and advance new therapeutic concepts. Direct experience in food allergy basic immunology research, with published track record of scientific innovation and/or leadership, is preferred. Additionally, a substantial publication record and evidence of external collaborations in the broader scientific community is desired.
